I hope Everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend!

Here is an inspired texture set from a napkin used by my daugter during our Easter egg coloring tradition. I scanned the napkin and applied some of my other textures and images in photoshop elements and came up with this grungy, but colorful texture set for you.

I thought these would make great digital scrapbooking backgrounds too!

I wanted to give you a quick preview of the Old Bird Texture-Overlay Set I'm working on. I've done a 'quick creation' using one of the texture-overlays from this set. The example I've shown here is only one of many results that can be created... the possibilities are endless.

I wanted to create this quick creation using a picture of our cat Shandi.

She was an avid bird watcher. She only watched, and never, ever, 'played' with them. She was in our family for over 20 years. With Spring warming up the weather outside, she would have been getting ready to spend her summer days outside, lazing under the sun.

She is always missed.

Creating Quick Textures from those 'not so great shots'.

It's like finding Gold!
I always rush home to the computer to have a look at my images after a photo walk. When I see a photo that didn't turn out quite as I would have hoped, I'm not so quick to be disappointed or delete the images anymore. Now I'm discovering some of the 'not so great shots' are like searching for gold!

Take another look...
What do you see?
Maybe, just possibly, a texture!

I love salvaging color, and texture from shots like these ones.

I just load them into my photoshop elements, and I imagine the creative possibilities. I find it to be a fun & quick to way to create your own personal textures from your photos in a flash.

If there is a part of the image I like, I simply just crop out the part I don't need or want in the final texture. Or, maybe you'll be lucky and you can use the whole photo, as is, with no cropping needed, as a texture.

I have found that using images where I don't have to crop too much works the best!

Foto Freebies Flower Background Texture Set

I had some time to do some creating over the weekend and this is where it led me. This free flower texture set was made from a picture of my Orange Mexican Sunflowers. The set includes NINE different high resolution background/textures using the same image.

Still cold at -28 this morning! I need a Winter Boost...

Even thought it is March now, the cold weather is still here...
I was looking at some of my images from this winter, and thought some of them, and myself, could use a Winter Boost.
I started to try some 'quick creations' on one picture, because I thought it needed a little something. This image is of my daughter walking up a toboggan hill on a cold winter day!

The Owl that got away.... or did it?

I missed a great opportunity the other day. After arriving home from picking up my daughter from school, we could hear a chattering Crow, which was sitting low in the tree above our driveway. We got out of the car, and right away, I new that crow was up to something or someone. After only a few seconds, out of the corner of my eye, I spotted a soft brown and white, and rather large 'creature' up in our Pine Tree. My daughter and I both looked up with such surprise, when out stretched this amazing wing span; flapping his wings and getting ready for take off was an OWL. WHOooo would have thought right here, in our front yard, an Owl! It is not something you would see every day in the city... not a sight I've seen before in our front yard, and I'm guessing not one of the crows either.

My daughter loves Owls. She dressed up as an Owl this past Halloween. With altered Angel wings and a feathered mask, away she flew, happy as could be.

Well, in an instant the Crow succeeded and chased the Owl off. We just stared in wonderment, as they both flew away;

thinking... why? where? is my camera when I need it.

But, not to despair, my daughter has been experimenting with watercolor pencils. She surprised me the other day with these watercolor pencil drawings, and we would like to share what she has created with you.
What a wonderful reminder of the Owl that got away!

Black Graphic Bird Photoshop Brushes

I created these black graphic type bird brushes from some of the pictures I took of different birds last summer. I made them with the largest pixels possible in my photoshop elements, love, love, love, my photoshop elements!

I hope they come in handy for creating in digital collage, digital scrapbooking, etc... I included a bonus, my post divider I created for the Foto Freebies Blog is included as a brush in this set!

This Foto Freebies 'Spring is on the way!' Texture Set was inspired by this photo's background. (below) I took this picture of my daughter while feeding the Chickadees at a Formal Flower Garden. I loved the background colors of the 'defocused' purple flowers. (Unfortunately no Chickadee.... yet.)

This is my first free texture set I've made, and I'm so happy to be able to share them with you. I hope you like it!

I've posted two examples of images, that I 'Texturized' with two of the textures from my 'Spring is on the Way!' texture set. The before and after of each image are shown, as well as a quick 'How I did it...' for each image.
